What do you love most about your job here at GTA?

Having a “work family” is a must for me, and you can certainly find that with the thoughtful, compassionate, funny, and genuine folks here at GTA. My colleagues also embrace my love of 80s music, so that’s a plus!

What should clients know about working with you?

I’m open and direct. As we get to know each other and build our therapeutic relationship, you will quickly learn I’m a straight shooter. While I work to offer a warm and inviting style, I don’t beat around the bush as I help you identify and reach your goals. Therapy works best when clients are open and honest and that goes for the therapist, too! If I have insight, observations, or information that can help, I’m absolutely going to share my thoughts. My goal is to empower you toward change with compassion and gentle direction.

If I wasn’t doing this, I’d be…

A rock star. The only thing holding me back is a complete lack of musical talent. Or maybe I could be one of those people on YouTube who unboxes things…

The official Story….

My name is Maria Perozzi and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia with over 15 years of experience and I provide outpatient therapy for adults, couples, and families.

My therapy approach incorporates a variety of theoretical perspectives to fully understand each person’s unique challenges and needs. With a warm and inviting style, I take an open and direct approach with clients as I help you identify and reach your goals. As an LMFT, I am passionate about helping clients work on their relationships, whether that relationship is with your partner, your family, your friends, or even yourself.I enjoy working with couples as they strive to enhance their relationship. I can help with improving communication and conflict resolution skills, rebuilding connection and intimacy, streamlining parenting, repairing trust, and adjusting to change.

Couples therapy is all about the beautiful balance of both partners feeling heard, understood, and validated.

I am particularly interested in working with clients in ethically non-monogamous relationships.I also enjoy working with adults who may be struggling with mental health issues, life transitions, stress, parenting, and any of life’s other curve balls. We can work together to explore your needs and create a supportive and healthy plan for meeting them.

I am an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and ally. I strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all clients. I appreciate diversity in all forms and want to understand everyone’s story that is unique to them their experiences.
