Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word - Panel Discussion and Happy Hour

So a couple of therapists walk into a party….

and an hour later everyone goes home happy!

Is it hard to imagine chatting casually over some happy hour snacks with a few psychotherapists?  Have you ever met a therapist and wondered if they were secretly analyzing you? (don’t worry- we’re not!) Do you wonder what a bunch of therapists and shrinks talk about when they’re off the clock?

You’re not alone.

And now you don’t have to wonder anymore.

Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word Q & A Happy Hours are social events featuring great food, great drinks, and great conversation with real psychotherapists and mental health professionals.  Hosted by Esther Boykin, LMFT and Group Therapy Associates, these events are part panel discussion, part mid-week happy hour and 100% fun and informative.

Our Therapy is Not A Dirty Word Q & A Happy Hours  are a fun way for all of us to come together as a community and  rewrite the narrative on what mental health and therapy are really all about.

So much of the stigma around mental health comes from one thing- unfamiliarity.  One of the cornerstones of an ethical therapist’s work is confidentiality .  The privacy therapy affords is a key ingredient in making it a safe place for our clients to open their hearts and explore their challenges… it also means that the process of psychotherapy can seem mysterious and even scary to anyone who’s never tried it before.

But therapy is not a dirty word nor a shameful secret.  It’s an amazing experience and Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word  Q & A Happy Hours are here to bring a sampling of it to you in a fun, new setting.  Open to anyone who is curious about what we do, what we know, and how we help- our Q & A Happy Hours are all about honest conversation and getting to know new people.

Therapists Get Thirsty When They’re Sharing Their (Insider) Secrets.

At Therapy is Not A Dirty Word Q & A Happy Hours you get to hang out with a few of our favorite local therapists  and listen to some of our insider secrets for tackling life’s many challenges.

Have you ever thought it’d be great to get professional  advice on a relationship dilemma?  Wondered whether your momentary stress or panic warranted a second opinion?  Do you want to communicate with friends or coworkers better even when they push your buttons?

These are the kinds of questions therapists answer all day.  We are not just in our office to help with depression, anxiety, or family crisis (though we definitely do that!).  Psychotherapists are uniquely trained to answer questions and help people with every area of life.  But don’t take my word for it…

Join Us at an Upcoming Q & A Happy Hour to Talk About:

No Uptight Offices Here; Just Beautifully Designed Social Venues

One of the things you’ll learn about therapists is that the details always matter.  It’s the tiny nuances of a situation, setting, or person that often help direct our work.  We bring that same attention to detail to every event.

Therapy Is Not A Dirty Word Q & A Happy Hours are hosted in venues that are designed to bring people together, nurture conversation, and, honestly, just look really awesome! Just check out the photos below to see what I mean.

So What Exactly Is a Q & A Happy Hour?

To be clear, this is not a therapy session with cocktails and snacks. Rather it is a social event designed to give people a chance to tap into the wisdom of local experts and get to know real psychotherapists outside of their offices.  It’s a chance to see that mental health professionals are not intimidating and that it actually feels good to talk about what’s real in our lives.

Therapy Is Not a Dirty Word Q & A Happy Hours is also a chance to meet other smart people who care about living better lives with real advice from real pros.  We start the evening with some introductions and flow into a panel discussion, followed by mixing and mingling with other guests and therapists.

At the end of the evening you’ll have met some great people and  gotten some solid advice. Here’s a general guideline of what to expect:
