What’s your name and what do you do around here…

I am Devonne Wilson and I’m the Intake Coordinator.  I’m the first person you talk to and am eager to help you feel comfortable and at ease as you start the therapy process.

5 words to describe you…

Spiritual / Giving / Creative/ Grateful / but certainly…Not Perfect

What do you love most about working at GTA?

In the short time that I have worked at GTA, it is clear that the staff and therapists here are genuinely engaged to ensure best outcomes for our clients. When I am faced with aligning that individual with a “good fit”, It makes my job easy knowing with confidence that I am placing them in the hands of well qualified and caring therapist.

Tweet that (you life story in 140 characters)…

I’m married to an all around good guy, a mother of three young ladies, who are beautiful both inside and out. I follow the mantra that… preconceived notions of good and bad often blind people from the bigger picture.

What should clients know about working with you…

I understand to make that the initial call may be difficult, which is why as the first point of contact, I strive to make the individual feel at ease without judgment. This sets the tone for what they can except with our therapist. This is my most important contribution to Group Therapy Associates. I almost never have any other interaction with the client once they are scheduled, this can be challenging because I never get to meet the person I made a brief connection with. I always wish them well through positive thoughts.

If I wasn’t doing this I’d be…

A photographer – because I am inspired by everything beautiful!

The official story…

I hold a BS degree in biology and have more than a decade of experiences that have spanned several different industries. As a molecular biologist, I performed research for several years at the National Institute of Health (NIH). I co-authored several scientific papers. As a diplomat serving in South Africa, I worked in Human Resources as the HR Professional Associate at the US Embassy Pretoria, SA. My most rewarding position is when I served as an instructional aide, working with special needs children.

In my free time, I enjoy taking pictures, reading, traveling (who doesn’t) and decorating.

As the intake coordinator my goal is to offer the best care from the beginning and ensure the smoothest initial process possible.
